The Wait Continues For The NHLPA

    Posted by kirsch17 on 15th August 2012

For fans and players of the NHL this has been a long and stressful summer up to this point. With the CBA still not signed for the 2012-2013 season it has made everyone tense. And with the decision from Commissioner Gary Bettman last week saying that if there is no deal signed before September 15th there will be a lockout things have gotten worse.

This is a nightmare for both fans and players alike because of what happened in 2004 when the entire league was shut down for an entire season because of the lockout. That year saw a huge loss in money and players, after over 350 of them went to play over in Europe because of this decision. Now with the KHL having many elite teams with elite players (including a lot of former NHL players) it poses an even bigger threat that players will once again leave.

The NHLPA submitted a proposal yesterday afternoon to the NHL in their offices in New York City. After a two hour meeting which included high profile players such as Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin and Steven Stamkos the NHL and Gary Bettman decided they were going to need another day to digest everything that happened yesterday. So the wait continues, until around noon this afternoon when they will meet again to go over the current proposal which includes the players taking a hit in terms on revenue aspect of the deal. Everyone just wants to start the season on time and everyone hopes both sides come to an agreement quickly. But for now we wait…

Sharks square series at 2 after Pavelski thwarts upstart Avs in OT

Posted by GameSetMatch on 21st April 2010

San Jose Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle didn’t feel a sense of redemption, only relief.

For Boyle, it’s been a long two days since he scored in overtime on his own goalie, an error that’s been replayed often on the Internet.

He can’t forget the play, just attempt to move on. This, though, helps exorcise some of those demons.

Joe Pavelski scored 10:24 into overtime and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 33 shots, giving top-seeded San Jose a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night, tying the Western Conference series at two games apiece.

Boyle played an integral role in the Game 4 win, scoring the first goal and then thwarting a golden opportunity in overtime as he slid in the way of a pass.

Avs’ Stoa joins Hejduk on sideline

Posted by GameSetMatch on 19th April 2010

Avalanche center Ryan Stoa joined teammate Milan Hejduk on the sideline after sustaining a lower-body injury during the second period of Game 3 in Colorado’s 1-0 overtime victory over San Jose on Sunday night.

Hejduk left 2:06 into the contest after sustaining an upper-body injury.

Hejduk, who had one goal for the Avalanche in the first two playoff games, was injured after colliding with teammate Paul Stastny while the two skated into the Sharks’ zone. It wasn’t immediately clear how Stoa was injured.
